"Art Deco Revue Dancer - Signed F. Preiss - Bronze Statue"
This opulent bronze Art Deco statue shows the slender body of a twenty-year-old revue dancer. The figurine is made from 100% bronze and is characterised by an elaborately detailed design. This can be seen by the incredibly realistic manner in which the materials are used. This becomes apparent in the area of the flowing fabrics which reach across the dance platform - which is also used as a bronze base - and thus are connected to the surroundings of the statue. The sculpture has a two-toned patina, which creates a harmonious interaction between green and copper hues. The final refinement of this Art Deco revue dancer was done via a partial painting by hand in order to highlight small details in the areas of the hat, robe and base. Additionally, the statue bears the signature of the artist.
Our bronze figurines and sculptures are created in an elaborate process that features a lot of different stages of production. Our main production technique is the so-called lost wax technique, which is a tried-and-tested method when it comes to the production of bronze statues.
Works by Ferdinand Preiss (1882 - 1943) are characterised by an admirably detailed design - just like the works of many of his well-known contemporaries. Demetre Haralamb Chiparus, Pierre Le Faguays and last but not least Ferdinand Preiss himself had a huge impact on plastic art during the Art Deco period. Their fascinating depictions of women are still relevant to this day and highly regarded throughout the art world.
