Cubistic Nude Sculpture - Sign. Lipchitz - Cubistic Bronze

This Cubistic sculpture, which was designed by Jacques Lipchitz, depicts a lying female erotic nude. The solid Cubistic bronze is characterised by its voluminously abstracted, angular shapes. Placed on a green bronze base, the shape of this contemporary bronze sculpture is oriented towards geometric forms, particularly in the area of the upper body and head of the erotic nude sculpture. The Cubistic sculpture is equipped with the signature of Lithuanian artist Jacques Lipchitz, whose works are seen as central pieces of the Cubist movement. Jacques Lipchitz is an important representative of the art form of the Cubist sculpture. Some of his most famous works include: Seated Man with Guitar (1918), Seated Figure (1917) and Rape of Europa (1938). Originating from the French artist Aristide Maillol, who broke away from the modern sculpture as it was defined by Auguste Rodin, new concepts were developed that were then influenced heavily by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Alexander Archipenko, Henri Laurens and Jacques Lipchitz himself.
