The bronze sculpture "Cupid stringing his bow" was designed by the French sculptor Charles Louchet. During the Hellenistic period his iconography acquired the bow and arrow that represented his source of power: a person, or even a deity, who is shot by Cupid's arrow, is filled with uncontrollable desire. He is known in Latin also as Amor ("Love") and his Greek counterpart is Eros. The small sculpture is positioned on a black, square-shaped marble base and bears the artist’s signature.
All our figures and sculptures were made of fine bronze and were cast using the lost wax technique. Each exhibit is poured by hand and strict quality standards guarantee a top quality of all our products.
Louchet Charles (1854-1936) was a French sculptor who was active at the end of the 19th Century. In addition to Cupid he created other things orientalising Salon sculptures according to the Belle Epoque. It is attributed to the style of Art Deco.
