Abstract Bronze Art Marksman / Sagittarius, sign. U. Boccioni

“Sagittarius” is a modern art sculpture that pictures an abstract designed marksman. The sculpture was created after an idea of the Italian artist Umberto Boccioni (* October 19, 1882 in Reggio Calabria; † August 17, 1916 close to Verona) by using finest bronze material. Because the abstract bronze art “Sagittarius” is a high quality product it also got signed by the artist Boccioni. The unusual depiction of a sportive marksman who is standing in an outstanding pose and aiming up to the sky impresses by many filigree details like the detailed design wardrobe as well as by the anonymous designed facial expression. “Sagittarius” got perfected by affixing it on a round shaped marble base.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.

Umberto Boccioni was born in October 1882 in Italy and became a famous painter and sculptor of Futurism. One of his best known sculptures is the larger than life bronze figure “Unique Forms of Continuity in Space”, which he created in 1913; nowadays it is exhibited in New York, America. Furthermore the sculpture was three times shown at the exhibit “documenta” in Kassel, Germany. And today the Italian 20-cent coin carries a likeness of said sculpture. Besides working as an artist, Boccioni published some books about Futurism painting together with two workmates; one of these books also got published in Moscow, Russia. The life of Umberto Boccioni ended on August 17, 1916 near the city Verona.
