Product description

"Greek Mythology Statue - Abduction of Europa - Sign. Hussmann"

Weight 8,7 kg
With the conception of this bronze Greek Mythology Statue, sculptor Albert Heinrich Hussmann recreates the myth about Zeus, the father of the gods, and his lover Europa. Zeus, in the shape of a bull, abducts the young girl he sees playing on the beach and brings her to the Mediterranean isle of Crete where the both of them join in lovemaking. The Greek Statue documents a snapshot of this legendary abduction of the young beauty, which was mainly coined by the antique Roman poet Ovid. The detailed shaping of the bronze statue perfects this erotic scenario.

The Abduction of Europa is only available in an exclusive, limited edition of 20 items, which are numbered individually and furnished with the signature of Hussmann, adopted from the original piece.

At the age of 70, Hussmann started working at the porcelain manufactory of Fürstenberg, which is said to be the second oldest porcelain manufactory of Germany.
