The artist Donato di Niccolò di Betto Bardi or also known as Donatello was born in 1386 in the Italian city Florence. There he died on December 13, 1466. He was an early Renaissance sculpture and artist. Donatello is also known for the creation in bas-relief. His father was Niccolò di Betto Bardi. Donatello received his education in the house of the Martelli family and his artistic training in a workshop of goldsmith. Then he worked in the atelier of the sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti. There he was one of 22 assistants. From 1404 to 1407 he undertook excavations and study in Rome.
