With this sculpture, Martin Klein reinterprets the Head of Janus. Janus was the Roman god of beginnings and ends. He is the god of all origins, guards doors and portals and is the father of all things. Janus especially symbolises the opposites that are a part of everything. He stands for left and right, light and darkness, future and past and even creation and destruction. His two faces express this notion. Thus, Janus is able to look into the future and the past or to the left and the right at the same time. The Head of Janus also represents the contrast between male and female. This is also the aspect that Martin Klein picked up for this sculpture. Consequently, one of the heads is male, while the other shows female features.
 
Our sculptures for sale are subject to constant quality inspections in order to meet the high standards of our clients. They are cast by hand and are produced by using the well-tried lost wax technique. The sculptures are made of 100% bronze.
 
Martin Klein was born in Bischofswerda in 1979. First, he successfully studied business administration in Berlin. Afterwards, he reoriented himself and enrolled at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. Already during his art studies, he was quite a successful painter and sculptor. His style is versatile, which makes him so popular among art enthusiasts. It ranges from abstract art to contemporary art bronze and fibre glass sculptures with a choice of motifs that range from humorous to erotic. Klein's various techniques and clever approaches to the design of his sculptures' surfaces give them a unique character.
