"Neapolitan Bronze Sculpture - Dancing Faun (Pompeii) - sign."
The bronze sculpture on the right is a high-quality cast of the most famous discovery of the ancient Italian city of Pompeii. The "Danzante Fauno" (Dancing Faun) was found on the northern edge of the impluvium of Casa del Fauno (House of the Faun). The original is in the National Archaeological Museum in Nepal, the copy is placed in the middle of the impluvium, the water pools in the atrium. Today it is assumed that this is not the original place of the bronze statue which was created 1st Century BC. The House of the Faun is one of the most famous buildings of the ancient city of Pompeii. It was excavated in 1830 and 1832. In the house there were numerous significant mosaics, including the Alexander Mosaic, depicting Alexander the Great in battle, as well as a mosaic that represents the love match between a Satyr and a Bacchante.
