Salvador Dali was a famous artist of Surrealism and born on May 11, 1904 in Figueres (Catalonia). The fully name of Dali, who died on January 23, 1989 in Figueres, was Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marqués de Púbol. His artwork was characterized by themes out of the world of the subconscious; he painted burning animals and melting watches as well as oversized crutches. Besides painting, Dali also was an active stage designer, graphic designer, writer and sculptor who gave parts of his descendant’s estate and some estates to the country of Spain the day he died. The tomb of Dali is situated inside the crypt of the Dali Museum (Teatre-Museu Dalí) in Figueres.
