Modern Art Bronze Statue - Fat cat - signed Fernando Botero

This nice Modern Art animal sculpture was created by the Colombian sculptor and artist Fernando Botero. It shows a bulky cat that is sitting on a small bronze base. With his sense for different shapes Botero made the bronze figure very plain and reduced it to simple geometric forms. Nevertheless it can be unambiguous recognized as a cat. The plump bronze also reminds of a ninepin. The funny Modern Art figure is made of 100% bronze and is signed by its sculptor Botero.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.

This remarkable Modern Art animal bronze of a funny fat cat was made by the famous Colombian sculptor Fernando Botero. The artist was born in 1932 in Medellín and is one of the most famous painters and sculptors of Latin America. He already started painting when he was twelve years old and exhibited his first works in 1948. In the early fifties he developed his own style, in which he works with all facets of human life. He is nowadays especially known for his remarkable big and plump sculptures and figures. In 2008 his life was made into a film with the title "Botero - Born in Medellin“.
