"Exclusive Art Deco Crocodile Table - A. Stevens - Whiskey Table - Whiskey Bar for Sale"
This exclusive whiskey table in the Art Deco style combines practicality with virtuoso statuary art. The bronze crocodile with its green patina is characterised by its detailed surface structure, which is highlighted by a few polishings of the bronze material. The crocodile was created by the artist Alfred Stevens in a lifelike and detailed manner. However, its natural form is abstracted by the fact that the animal is standing upright, holding a classy wooden plate that can be used as a table for liquors. Its placement on a wooden base rounds off the overall effect of this crocodile sculpture.
All of the bronze sculptures in our assortment are produced via the lost wax technique, and strict quality guidelines ensure the high quality of our numerous bronze figurines.
Alfred Stevens is known for his fascinating statues and abstract sculptures that can show both realistic and abstract motifs. He was a British sculptor who was born in Dorset on 18th January 1818. As the son of a painter, he got in touch with the arts at an early age and produced his first paintings as a child. In 1833, he left his home and studied in Italy for nine years, where he worked for Bertel Thorvaldsen and others. Back in England, he became a teacher at the School of Design and later on, he worked at a company that specialised in the production of bronze statues. One of his works is the Wellington Monument in St. Paul’s Cathedral. Stevens died on 1st May 1875 in his London atelier.
