The small bronze animal figurines became famous largely due to their imaginative scenic presentation. Painted by hand and elaborately made, the miniature bronze pieces, which were often only a few centimetres tall, told stories from the everyday life of humans. This way, cats, mice, dogs, pigs and frogs became the main protagonists of this extensive world of ideas. Yet the motif of the cat was the one which was implemented in hundreds of different ways. The cat is said to have been the first animal that was used for those humanising motifs.
