The Artist’s Transcultural Genesis

Miguel Fernando Lopez, known professionally as Milo, was born 1955 in the sunlit port city of Lisbon. His formative years were shaped by the Moorish tile patterns of Alfama and the elegant curves of Belem’s maritime monuments. After studying classical sculpture at the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Fine Arts, he traveled through Paris, Vienna, and Tokyo, absorbing diverse traditions of abstraction and anatomical study. It was in his Lisbon atelier, overlooking the Tagus River’s ever–changing light, that Milo conceived this Abstract Nude, synthesizing classical harmony with modernist daring.

Crafted at Lisbon’s Premier Foundry

The Contemplation began as a fluid clay maquette, refined by Milo’s deft hand until every plane and void resonated with intention. The model was entrusted to the renowned Atelier da Ribeira foundry, where artisans employed the ancient lost-wax process to cast the bronze elements in one seamless pour. The base of marble was quarried in Italy and hand–polished to a mirror finish, creating a luminous counterpoint to the bronze’s nuanced patina. Each piece bears the discreet “Signed Milo” engraving, a testament to its provenance and the artist’s exacting standards.
