"Art Nouveau Bronze Figure (1881) - Spring - sign. Peter Breuer"
This bronze figure is a high quality reproduction of the original from the Hermitage Collection. Peter Breuer, a well-known German sculptor, created a model of a sitting nude girl's statue which has givin the name “Spring” in 1889. Two years later, recreated in marble, the statue attracted much attention and was marked at the art exhibition in Berlin due to its grace and charm. The title of the figure - "Spring" - is unmistakable in its metaphorical content: The vernal vitality of the female body is what the German sculptor Peter Breuer has expressed here, "Spring" is representative of the youth of life. The nonchalance and beauty of the girl from the title refer inevitably to the vanitas motif.
