Product description

"Abstract Otto Gutfreund Cubism Bronze, signed"

Weight 16,8 kg

This extraordinary creation is signed by the Czech artist Otto Gutfreund. It depicts a woman’s head with the help of Cubistic means. It is left up to the spectator to interpret what parts of a human head can actually be found in this sculpture and which ones are merely implied. One might, for example say, that the right ear as well as an eyebrow can be found on the right side of the plastic, while Otto Gutfreund exaggerated the chin of the woman he portrayed. Looking at this very special piece of art definitely will never lose its fascination. With its solid bronze material and its fine linings it is a gain for every fan of Cubistic sculptures.

Exclusive limited edition of 20 copies, individually numbered and signed with the artist's name.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.

All of our sculptures are also suited for the laying-out of a garden area, where they after a while get a bronze typical patina by weather.

Otto Gutfreund was born on August 3, 1889 in the little Czech town of Dvur Krávolé. The young Otto Gutfreund attended the local technical college for ceramics in Bechyne, where he studied under Josef Drahonovsky, as well as a Parisian private college, where he learned under Èmile-Antoine Bourdelle. Otto Gutfreund not only created many remarkable Cubistic pieces of art, but he also developed abstract art further, and held the chair for architectural sculpture at the Arts College in Prague.
