Product description

"Bronze sculpture - Native American chieftain - from Carl Kauba"

Weight 9 kg

This is an amazing bronze sculpture of a Native American chieftain, once created by C. Kauba. The sculpture is showing an adult chieftain, wearing his traditional clothing. The sculpture is a very modern and very realistic image of a Native American. Many details make the sculpture looking very natural. Even the six-pack and every single feather of the head decoration of the chieftain are visible. Carl Kauba created scenery full of emotions and full of traditions. The Mythology sculpture is signed by the sculptor and made of 100% finest bronze that was used for this bronze cast. The upright standing chieftain is affixed on a very solid marble-base that completes the sculpture in an awesome way.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.

Carl Kauba, who was born in 1865, was a well-known sculptor, who was fascinated by the American West. Kauba studied in his native country Austria and reportedly came to America in 1886. Others claim that Kauba never set foot on American soil, but was provided with costumes, weapons and other props and artefacts. Back in Vienna, he created his bronze sculptures, which he started to export in 1895. The typical Kauba bronze sculpture is characterized by intricate detail and ornament. He was a master at rendering feathers, cords and hair, which all contrasts with smooth flesh. In the 19th century, polychrome bronze was developed in Europe as part of the realist movement which opposed the "cold" smooth and white classical statue.
