Vienna Bronze is known as the most famous bronze ever. The sculptures made in Vienna, Austria are known since the Biedermeier, whereat the height of these art objects was between 1880 and 1914. The end of the coltish, funny, nice or attractive bronze art objects made in Vienna came with the beginning of World War I and during the first and second World War many of these little figures were melted in, most likely for producing military equipment. The best known foundry was founded in 1884 by Franz Bergmann and was named "Bergmann - Vienna Bronze". This foundry Bergmann also produced great erotic figures and marked them with the name "Namgreb", the name Bergmann spelled backwards.
