He went down in history as the founder of the Viennese Waltz - the Austrian Composer Johann Baptist Strauss. With the motif of the “king of waltz”, Milo brings back memories of yet another visionary composer. The Bronze Statue orients itself at the opulent Johann Strauss Memorial in Vienna’s city park. Apart from the king of waltz, Milo also created motives of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frédéric Chopin and Franz Peter Schubert in the course of his series of musical Bronze Statues.

Johann Strauss Sohn (born 25 October 1825 in Vienna, where he also died 3 June 1899) is rated one of the most important composers of classical entertainment music. With operettas such as “The Bat” (1874) and “The Gypsy Baron”, the Austrian became a musical legend. The name Johann Strauss Sohn derives from the fact that the whole Strauss family left a lasting imprint on the musical landscape of that time.

His father, who bore the same name, wrote more than 250 compositions, among them 150 waltzes, 34 quadrilles, 28 gallops and 16 marches. His most popular piece is the Radetzky March, op. 228. Johann Strauss Sohn conducted Viennese court balls from 1863 until 1870, where he became immortal as the founder of the Viennese Waltz.
