Fall of Man - Fiberglass Sculpture on a Black Base, Martin Klein

The title of the adjoining sculpture – “Fall of Man” - already provides information about the source of inspiration of this work: the Christian religion. According to the narrative, God creates Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, in His own image. God places them in the Garden of Eden and forbids them to eat fruit from the "tree of knowledge of good and evil" - the fruit of which is often symbolised in European art and literature as an apple. All of our sculptures were produced in a strictly limited edition.

In Christian theology, the fall of man, or the fall, is a term used to describe the transition of the first man and woman from a state of innocent obedience to God to a state of guilty disobedience. Although not named in the Bible, the doctrine of the fall comes from a biblical interpretation of Genesis chapter 3. At first, Adam and Eve live with God in the Garden of Eden, but the serpent tempts them into eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, which God forbade. After doing so, they became ashamed of their nakedness and God expelled them from the Garden to prevent them from eating from the tree of life and becoming immortal.

Martin Klein (* 1979 in Bischofswerda, Germany) is studying Arts and in addition to his studies, he also worked as a successful painter and sculptor. His repertoire is broad and varied: It is ranging from abstract oil paintings to modern sculptures with humorous and erotic motifs. His work has been exhibited in a number of small regional and national exhibitions. Among lovers of modern, ironic sculptures Klein enjoys a reputation as a talented young artist.
