"Vienna Bronze - Satyr abducts a Virgin - with Bergmann Stamp"
The bronze figure on the left is named "Satyr abducts a Virgin" and deals with a typical subject of the "Vienna Bronze"-era, which is the erotic female nude in a small format. The naked lady is carried by a lecherous satyr, a hybrid being between animal and human, who is most possibly seducing the young woman to an erotic interlude. The small-scale sculpture is hallmarked with the stamp of the famous Bergmann foundry.
All our figurines and sculptures were made of fine bronze and were cast using the lost wax technique. Each exhibit is poured by hand and strict quality standards guarantee a top quality of all our products.
The founder of the famous bronze production in Vienna, Franz Bergmann, was born in Jablonec on the 26th September 1838. At a young age he came to Vienna and learnt the processing of bronze and in 1860 Franz Bergmann completed his master's examination as a chaser. Bergmann first came into contact with the Bronze Art of France, when he visited the World Exhibition in Paris 1884. Soon he learnt the art of natural patina and the creation of the bronze foundry was a great success. The animal figures and erotic bronzes are now very popular as collector items.
