Modern Bronze Figure - Female Nude - signed Amedeo Modigliani

The „Female Nude“ was already painted in many pictures of Amedeo Modigliani. The elongated creation of his figure is very typical for this artist. In the whole prettiness this sculpture shows a naked woman, who stays in sitting position and performs her feminine charms. Amedeo Modigliani created the model for this motif between 1913 and 1915. African influences, which the artist liked to use, are also to see in this sculpture. The flowing movement, the round forms of the 100 per cent bronze figure give a charming picture. The head is lightly tended backwards and the eyes are closed in a relaxed position. The sculpture is fixed on a round marble base, which underlines the noble expression of this figure. The sculpture has a signature of Amedeo Modigliani.

The Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani was born on July 12, 1884 in Livorno. After his short life he reached prominence. He died on January 24, 1920 in Paris. Amedeo Modigliani created a lot of art works as painter, sculptor and drawer. Especially he spent time for making nude paintings. These art works were described as “scandalous” in his life time. He studied ancient arts and renaissance in Italy. In 1906 he went to Paris. There he got to know famous artists like Pablo Picasso. Amedeo Modigliani had some lung diseases. At the age of 35 years he died. From 1909 to 1914 the sculpture was very important for him. He described humans in sculptures and in paintings. The African art and the renaissance influenced his work.
