"Large Modern Art Sculpture - Bird in Space (1923) signed Brancusi"
| Weight | 20,2 kg |
The Modern Art Large Sculpture „Bird in Space“ ("L’Oiseau dans l’espace") was made after the design of the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi. „Bird in Space“ is a very abstract depiction of a bird and was made of 100% finest bronze. A special feature is the shining colour of the sculpture. This shine is the result of polishing the material bronze. The slim and modern sculpture was affixed on a light marble-base that completes the modern and aesthetic image of „Bird in Space“. The sculptor Brancusi created 13 different versions of this sculpture since 1923. The original of this version here was once exhibited in Belgium and later sold to the American Eugene Isaac Meyer for 4.000 US-Dollars. Our exclusive recast is executed like the original and also signed with “Brancusi”. Because this „Bird in Space“ is a very reduced version out of the series of birds made by the sculptor, the sculpture is a modern eye-catcher with a high recognition effect.
Constantin Brâncuși was a Romanian sculptor and artist who was born on February 19, 1876 in Hobița, a small town in Romania. The young Brâncuși left his home at the age of eleven and started to work but did just some unskilled work until he decided to visit the art school in Craiova in 1894. He finished this school in 1898 and decided to keep on studying. Therefore he attended the Academy in Bucharest and he graduated in the year 1902. One of his first art works was a monument for the general and doctor Carol Davila. This monument was created by Brâncuși in 1903 and later executed in bronze. In addition Brâncuși decided to move to Paris, France in the same year. But because Brâncuși decided to walk to Paris, it took him a while; he arrived at July 14, 1904. There he started to attend the famous École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts and exhibited some of his artwork, like „Portrait de Nicolae Drascu“, „Tête d’enfant“ and „Le Supplice“, at the Salon d’Automne and at the Salon of the Societé nationale des beaux-arts. After the sculptor graduated, he worked a short time for the great Auguste Rodin (* November 12, 1840 in Paris; November 17, 1917 in Meudon), who he met at the Salons of Paris. The sculptor Brâncuși was one of the sculptors who really influenced sculpting in the 20th century; he died on March 16, 1957 in Paris, France.
