The Colombian artist Fernando Botero was born on April 19, 1932 in Medellin. Botero is one of the best known figurative artists of Colombia and called himself once "the most Colombian of Colombian artists". His work as painter as well as his work as sculptor was influenced by the great master Rubens. Even Botero is a famous sculptor, he started his career as an illustrator in 1948 when he illustrated the Sunday supplement of a local paper named “El Colombiano”. In 1953 the talented artist moved to France to study the art inside the Louvre. He later moved to Italy and lived 15 years in New York until he moved again to Paris, where he is living together with his wife.
