Modern Sculpture- Big chubby cat- signed - Botero

This well shaped and round bronze sculpture of a sitting, chubby cat is signed by Botero. Even though this bronze cat is chubby, the cat looks very graceful. The big cat is sitting on a pretty tiny marble base, but the cat is still looking relaxed. The chubby, big cat was designed by Fernando Botero. Botero was born in on April 19, 1932 in Medellin and is nowadays one of the most popular artists of Latin America. Botero attended the "Liceo de Marinilla de Antioquia". The money he needed to attend the school was all earned by him-self. He started to work as an illustrator in 1948 and was such a great artist that he earned enough to pay the school. After he worked a long time as painter and illustrator he also became a sculptor in 1976. He quickly found his typical style, which was the result due to his inspiration: The grand master Rubens and the normal "every day people". The sculptor Botero is nowadays married to Sophia Vari, the woman he is living with in Paris, France.
