This bronze sculpture is a high-quality replica of the “Flame Leaper”, dating back to 1930. The original is a combination figure of the Art Deco artist Ferdinand Preiss, consisting of different materials, specifically: ivory, bronze, glass and marble. The intrepid Flame Leaper swinging her torches in an elegant pose, is a noble item for private and business purposes. The figure on the left is hallmarked with the Bergmann-stamp and positioned on a black marble base.

This bronze cast was made by hand in the traditional lost wax process and fulfills strict quality criteria. Lost-wax-casting is a complex process using wax models. All of our sculptures are also suited for the laying-out of a garden area, where they, after some time, get a typical patina from the weather.
Johann Philipp Ferdinand Preiss (1882-1943) was the most prolific sculptor of the Art Deco period in Germany; he combined ivory, bronze, onyx and marble to create the most dazzling sculptures of his day. Preiss entered into an apprenticeship with his uncle, a master ivory carver, at the age of sixteen, following the death of his parents. He went on to become the most important Art Deco sculptor in Germany and, indeed one of the most accomplished in the whole of Europe, during the Nazi period.
