"Bronze Statue - Crouching Woman - signed by Auguste Rodin"
Lost in thoughts Auguste Rodin's “Crouching Woman” squats on a block of stone. With her right arm, the woman wraps her left foot. The left arm resting on her knee, the head is leaning on her shoulder and right thigh. The result is "Crouching Woman" (also known as “Lust”; French title: “La femme accroupie”), originally modeled in 1880 until 1882. Probably Rodin’s longstanding model Adèle had posed for this sculpture. Posture and physiognomy refer to a deeply moving, emotional state of mind. From every perspective, the viewer can consider the formal unity of this work. The artist's signature is raised above the surface of the sculpture.
