"Modern Bronze - The Reunion - 1930, signed Ernst Barlach"
One of the most important sculptures by Ernst Barlach, which belongs to a group, is the object “The Reunion”. In 1930 the artist provided the model for this much discussed motif. The symbolism of this picture is to emphasize. As basic for his interpretation Ernst Barlach use the legend of Thomas and Christ, in which the “unbelieving Thomas” only wants to believe in the resurrection of Jesus, when he can see and touch his wounds. The tension of the bronze sculpture is very expressive. The originals are to find in many museums and comprehensive collections. This sculpture shows the signature of Ernst Barlach and was made of 100 percent bronze.
