Mythology Sculpture - Warrior - signed B. Thorvaldsen

The attractive mythology sculpture “Warrior” was made after a cast of the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (* November 19, 1770 in Copenhagen; March 23, ibidem), a well known sculptor from Denmark. “Warrior” is an exclusive bronze figure of a well trained roman warrior with weapons but only wearing a loincloth.The equipment as well as the whole bronze is designed very filigree and with many details. The strong warrior with an expressive facial expression was made of 100% finest bronze and affixed on a solid base made of lightly coloured marble. Furthermore the mythology sculpture was signed with the signature of the artist B. Thorvaldsen. All in all, the exhibit is a perfect image with filigree details and a real high class product.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.

The Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen was born on November 19, 1770 in Copenhagen. Thorvaldsen was very talented and was honoured with a tree year stipend for one of his reliefs. Because he got the stipend he was able to travel to Rome and to study there the art of all the so-called old masters for at least three years. While he stayed in Rome his stipend got extended for one year because Thorvaldsen did great work. His life ended on March 1844 in Copenhagen during a theatre performance at the age of 73. Even though he was never married he had a daughter. But the day he died all his descendant’s estate was going to the city of Copenhagen. Only prerequisite was that the city was supposed to build a museum for the dead artist Thorvaldsen; the grand opening of the museum was in 1846.
