"Large Modern Art Sculpture Ballerina, signed Edgar Degas"
The large Modern Art figure, that was designed by the famous French artist and sculptor Edgar Degas, shows a young female ballet-dancer who is happy and concentrated in dancing. The ballerina wears a green ballet-dress and green ballet-shoes and does a typical dancing move. The attractive sculpture consists of 100% bronze and is worked filigree in detail. The folds of her dress seem very natural, the material seems flowing. She has got her hair styled in a strict bun. The athletic ballet gesture and the graceful move of the ballerina's arms give an impress of the beauty of dancing and are typical motifs of Edgar Degas' Modern Art. The bronze material is partly coloured green and there is a signature of the sculptor at the bronze plinth.
Bronze Garden Statues for Sale - Garden Statue - Garden Sculptures
As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.
All of our sculptures are also suited for the laying-out of a garden area, where they after a while get a bronze typical patina by weather.
The world famous French artist and sculptor Edgar Degas also created this beautiful and lovely large sculpture of the ballerina. He was born as Hilaire Germain Edgar de Gas on 19th July in 1834 in Paris and is one of the most important artists of the Impressionism. He came from an upper-class family, therefore he first studied jurisprudence, but he never completed it, because he was interested in fine arts. Since 1855 he had attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and travelled for purposes of study to Italy. In the 1890ies he also began to devote himself to photography. His sculptures are less well-known than his paintings; they were discovered after his death in 1917 in his studio. The most famous of these 150 figures are the "Little Dancer of Fourteen Years" that is also the only sculpture that has been exhibited in his lifetime.
