Product description

"Wilhelm Lehmbruck Bronze - Kneeling Woman (1911), signed"

Weight 60 kg

This is a re-cast of the very famous “Kneeling Woman” by Wilhelm Lehmbruck. It is made of 100% bronze and, of course, signed by this renowned sculptor. The elegant, naked body features of this woman, the fine details embodied in her hair and the cloth that embrace parts of her legs, and the melancholic look in her eyes all add up to an atmosphere of calm and peacefulness. This naturalistic nude art sculpture is a must-have for every collector and lover of fine art. Due to the height of this bronze sculpture, it can also be set in a garden, where it will definitely embellish everything surrounding it.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.

All of our sculptures are also suited for the laying-out of a garden area, where they after a while get a bronze typical patina by weather.

The German sculptor Wilhelm Lehmbruck lived to see World War I, which is considered to have been the most impressing influence in his art work. Due to this war, Wilhelm Lehmbruck often times illustrates all kinds of humans in naturalistic as well as expressionistic ways. The “Kneeling Woman”, for instance, mirrors some of the pain and hardship Lehmbruck encountered during his time as a helper in a German war hospital. Usually, Wilhelm Lehmbruck does not show many details of faces, because he wanted to emphasize the anonymity of his objects. The sculptural work of Lehmbruck was influenced by Naturalism and by the Expressionism and is exhibited in the Tate Gallery, the Lehmbruck Museum, the National Art Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art.
