Product description

"Large Lady Justice sculpture on marble, Part of Roman Mythology"

Weight 4,7 kg

This high impressive and large Lady Justice sculpture on marble was designed and signed by "Mayer". The sculpture is a stunning image of the Lady Justice, the goddess of Justice. As a part of Roman Mythology, Lady Justice was born as the equivalent of Dike, the Greek goddess of justice. The filigree and truly detailed sculpture shows Lady Justice with her typical equipment: her sword, her scale and her blindfold. The wonderful bronze sculpture is a great image of  Lady Justice, the personification of the judicial system. The Latin sentence "in dubio pro reo" is the well-known guiding principle of her. Our lovely designed sculpture was made of 100% finest bronze and created as filigree as possible in comparison to the original. A little extraordinary marble-base is the base for this amazing mythology sculpture of Lady Justice.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.

Lady Justice is known as the Roman Goddess of Justice. Lady Justice is the personification of justice and she dispenses justice by using her sword, a pair of scales and a eye-patch. But the blindfold is known as an invention of the 15th century and is a symbol of the objectivity. "In dubio pro reo" is the guiding principle of Lady Justice. Her blindfold is supposed to display her objectivity because justice is supposed to be blind and incorrupt. During early Roman times Lady Justice was known as a goddess with a sword in her one hand and the blindfold in her other hand. Thus, she was speaking law with opened eyes. The first image of a blind Lady Justice was created by the Swiss Renaissance sculptor Hans Gieng in 1543. This sculpture made by Gieng is placed on top of the Fountain of Justice in Berne.
